The Exquisite Forest

I stumbled upon this site the other day when searching for different lessons that deal with collaborative work in the classroom.  The Exquisite Forest is an online animated collaborative art project that lets anyone add their work to build off of someone else's work that they have posted creating different branches. People can build off of other peoples themes or branches or create their known, which would be planting a new seed to start a new tree. Although it would be hard to teach Flash player in the class room, I know nothing about it myself, but this project of creating something like this is such a good idea. It gives you a chance to create something that people all over the world have contributed to. Watch the video I have posted for an introduction to the project or click the link to take you directly to the site.

  1. This is so interesting! I love the exquisite corpse project and I love the idea of it going virtual! It would be neat to see how you could incorporate this into a classroom!

  2. Hey Jenna-

When I searched for different lessons for collaborative work in the classroom, there weren't too many that I liked. I really like the Exquisite Forest art project though. I remember learning about "the exquisite corpse" project sophomore year and was given the chance to create one with two other partners. The problem that came with this is that we could not find great times to meet to finish the project. I think making it virtual would have been an awesome way to complete the assignment, as it would have been easier for us to all contribute without having to meet to exchange the paper. I agree that the Flash aspect may be hard for students, but there may be other ways of starting this project up online.
